So excited about the news today starting my new role as President of Intrado’s Life and Safety Division. A huge thanks goes out to Ron Beaumont who has led this division for almost the last decade and has built a very successful business and is continuing to assist in leading this great company.
This group of close to 700 employees serve as the backbone in telecom, data and GIS experts with the mission of getting 9-1-1 calls and emergency requests for help to the first responders across North America. Many in public safety are not always aware but Intrado is also one of the leading notification companies (think school safety, health, utility outages, and emergencies) in the world and offer much of the VoIP backbone for enterprise telephony and many of the conferencing services users know and love today for all those “remote” business meetings over SIP, IP and traditional networks. This combination of expertise gives us a unique advantage as all these technologies are coming together.
This is bitter sweet for me, back in 2005 I started working with Intrado at a partner company I owned, TCI – TelControl we started working on the early days of Next Generation 9-1-1 together. It feels like yesterday but hard to believe that was 15 years ago when my now driving daughter was one year old! Its taken a while, but we are now ready to deploy this new emergency response architecture across the country. Its just a matter of execution at this point as telecom standards and networks have evolved and are ready for mission critical forms of voice and media to be delivered to 9-1-1 centers.
I am looking forward to meeting all the employees at Intrado’s Life and Safety business and being a member of a very accomplished executive team.
I love this industry! Lets roll!
